Biography
Mr. Dunton joined Cal Poly's EE faculty in 2017 after over thirty years of engineering experience focused primarily in satellite payloads, electronics development, and advanced concepts. He continues to engage in space activities and currently supports the U.S. Space Force's Future Systems efforts (VAR available upon request).
His on-going Cal Poly research with start-up partner OWL Integrations (https://www.owlintegrations.com/) has resulted in multiple senior projects & masters theses and three Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs worth >$1.4M. An OWL payload is expected to fly on Cal Poly’s SAL-E cubesat mission in late 2025.
In addition to his EE courses, Steve teaches a satellite subsystem course (AERO446) and serves as an informal advisor for the Cal Poly CubeSat Laboratory (Polysat).
