What is Rewind?
Rewind is Cal Poly's first 3D printer filament recycling facility. It was started as a senior project by Salman Wajahat, Sveta Selvan, and Rich Murray who is their advisor. Both Salman and Sveta are Computer Science majors who share a passion for making Cal Poly's campus more environment-friendly.
Students, faculty, and staff can use one of our drop-off locations to give us their waste filament. Most of this waste filament is generated either through support material printed to help print certain parts or simply by failed printjobs.
Upon successfully recycling filament, it is returned and ready to be reused by our faculty, staff, and students.
We talk about certain challenges that our team faced in this link.
Detailed documentation on our senior project can be found here.

How To Turn In Your Filament
Please make sure that the filament is packed in a plastic bag and that each bag contains only a certain kind and color of filament. Also, if you'd like to donate reels, that'd be much appreciated. An empty box is placed for reels right next to our bin.
Our drop off bin is located at the north entrance for building 20 - Engineering East.
